Sun dried tomato, basil and parmesan sourdough bread



Oh I’m getting good at this now. I actually feel like I know what I’m doing and can whip up a couple loaves of bread in no time.   🙂

How to make sun dried tomato, basil and parmesan sourdough bread.


Step One Ingredients:

1 stick butter

fresh basil

sun dried tomatoes



Add the butter, chopped basil and salt and pepper to pan and simmer for 3 minutes. Add in chopped sun dried tomatoes and set aside to cool.


Step Two Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups water heated to 110 degrees

3 tablespoons honey

2 teaspoons yeast

Mix the above ingredients well and let sit for 8- 10 minutes.


Add in the butter, basil, sun dried tomato mixture and add in parmesan cheese.


Step Three Ingredients:

6 cups flour

2 cups starter


Add flour and starter and mixed in a KitchenAid mixer for about 8 minutes.

Once the consistency is correct split the dough into 2 loaves and cut a few slits in the top. Let the loaves sit overnight to rise. I placed mine in the oven and left the door cracked.



When ready to bake, brush the tops and sides with egg wash and sprinkled generously with Kosher salt. Place them in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.


And……………… VOILA!!!!!!


Sun dried tomato, basil and parmesan sourdough bread made from scratch. And let me tell you, the smell after baking these was amazing!
